DUBLIN IRELAND, KIDS DEBATE

Dublin, Day 2

I slept in, but I had enough time to get down to Temple Bar for the Dubliner Voices event, I would be volunteering there as part of the St-Patrick's day festival.

I got to temple bar without a problem, but finding the building was. I walked from one end to another, then finally I asked a couple of people for directions and found the place just in time. Well I was a minute late, but who is counting? So me and two other girls, a French girl named Lea and a Local were instructed to give out pamphlets at the entrance to the auditorium and seat people if needed. All of a sudden a bunch of school kids came in and flooded the Auditorium. There were two groups of kids set up on the 'stage', 3 boys from one school on one side and 3 girls from another school on the other. They would be debating the positive and negative effects of the Internet. it was definitely interesting to watch the debate which lasted about an hour. Each group had good points and presentations, some of the individuals were more prepared then the others. One of the mothers of one of the girls that was debating came in late and asked us how her daughter was, of course we gloated about her, she had been one of the better ones anyway. When the debate was over we were invited for coffee and tea upstairs, the three of us went and chatted. I left with the French girl after and we walked around the Liffey for a while.

After I headed down towards St-Stephen's green, and Marion square. Marion square for some reason had eluded me the two previous times I had been to Ireland so it was time to make it right. I finally got to see the Oscar Wilde statue! There wasn't too much I needed to see in Dublin that I had not done before. I went and got some food, then went to an Internet cafe to catch up on the latest.
