DUBLIN, IRELAND - EGG & CHEESE BAGLES PLEASE

Amsterdam day 4, Dublin, Day 1

I had a bit of Drama the night before, I couldn't get ahold of Lea in Dublin and I was suppose to be staying with her. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to book a hostel either because of St-Patrick's day being around the corner. Luckily, she came through at the end, she was flying in the same day as me from Paris.

I got up around 9 am, I was suppose to have breakfast with Adrian and Megan, I knew that wasn't going to happen because of the night we had. Sometimes I don't know how I do it, no matter how shitty of a night I have, I always managed to get up when it's necessary or have plans (keyword is of course necessary). So I went and got something on my own and got my stuff ready to catch the train to the airport. I had a really good time in Amsterdam especially after feeling so sad after leaving Belgium. Nothing like some craziness to help you get over your sorrow.

I walked to central station and caught the train without a problem. It only takes about 15 minutes to get to Schiphol. I was a bit scared when I got to the check in area as it was packed with people, but it all worked out in the end. I passed out on the flight again, I didn't get to enjoy lovely green views of flying into Ireland. Dublin has a very nice modern airport, although not very big. I felt like I knew my way around the main areas from my two previous visits. I made a b-line for the Bagel Factory when I got to arrivals, it's starting to become tradition that it's my first and last stop when I'm in Dublin. There Egg, cheese and bacon bagel is like no other!

I felt pretty confident getting around, when I stepped outside, when you've been to places a few times, they start to feel a bit like a substitute home. I got on the airlink to O'Connell street, Lea lived just by there. She's very lucky to have a great place right downtown Dublin. I walked over to Lea's place, backpack and all and called her up. Unfortunately she wasn't there, but said she wouldn't be long. I waited outside the gate (yes the gate!), but then somebody let me in. Then I waited on the inside of the gate since I didn't have a passcode to get in the building. It only took about 10 minutes for Lea to show up. Everything was so familiar from the last time I stayed with her, the smell, the look of the building, the irishness I loved it. It was also cool to see her roommates again, who are Irish. What had changed though was Lea's room, last time I was here she was sharing it with Adia, and now she had it all to herself. We caught up on the latest and then she took me out to the Temple Bar area for Mongolian BBQ. For healthy food, they sure know how to make it rock! We called it a night after that after a big day.

Tim Horton's coffee in Dublin, yay!
