CORK & MIDDLETON - JAMESON MAKES US TIPSY

Cork & Middleton day 1, Dublin day 3

I had to get up really early, like 5 am early! I was taking the 6 am train to Cork so that I could meet up with an old friend of mine Elaine and some of ther other friends for the day.

Lea had given me directions on where to catch the Luas (tram), but I got confused on the way out and hailed a taxi to the train station. I got there and bought my ticket, which was really expensive just to go for the day, but cheaper at the same time then I had originally expected.

I got some breakfast then boarded the train behind a huge group of tourists. Tours can be so cheesy, especially when they make you dress the same! Unfortunately I was seated just across from 'business type' people that were on there phones in 3 different languages at the same time so it made it hard to get some rest.
I arrived in Cork and Elaine came and got me outside the doors. We got in her car and drove to where her other friends were staying. We would be off to the Jameson factory in Middleton.

Samantha and I were keen on going to the butter museum (yum!), but I don't think time would have been on our side.

It wasn't a long drive from Cork to Middleton, maybe a half hour?
We arrived at the factory but we had to wait about 20 minutes for the next tour to begin. During that time we walked around the shop where they had these really expensive bottles of Jameson on display. Even one that cost $5000 €.

Our tour guide was this French lady, she was alright, but I didn't really find her that engaging. Then we got interrupted by a security alarm that kept saying " A situation has arised" on a loop, it was so funny me and Samantha made videos of it.

After the Jameson factory we went to eat at this amazing bagel gourmet shop in Middleton. I officially had the best bagel I have ever tasted in my life! Then we went to a 1 euro shop to pick up some St Patrick's day supplies.

After Middleton we headed back to Cork so that us girls could do some shopping while the guys went to a bar. We headed to Penny's (Primark in the UK) which is one of my favorite shops ever. They have so many trendy clothes at cheap prices.

By the time we joined the boys it was time for me to get back to the train station, I had a 3 hour train ride back to Dublin and I had to meet Lea at her apartment for 8 as we had a birthday dinner to attend.

Me & Sam got chosen as taste testers!

The train ride back to Dublin was a lot more quiet and more enjoyable! I got back to Huston station, I knew I could take a train back to Leah's but I was in a hurry so I caught a cab. I had a really friendly taxi driver who told me about how he's trying to put his kid through school and how the money isn't as good right now and that there are too many taxis in Dublin. I have to agree with him. Dublin never ever seems to have a shortage to taxis, but the drivers are always interesting and friendly, a far cry from most cities.

I met up with Lea at her apartment and got dressed quickly. We took a taxi to get to Yamamori, this Japanese restaurant. Lea and the taxi driver got into a funny argument because he couldn't find one of the streets we needed to go to even though it was one of the main streets in Dublin. Turns out it was a pronunciation issue as the Taxi thinks "George street" is "Georgie street" for some reason.

The table at the restaurant was huge and it was full! The food was amazing and I loved the decor of the place. After the restaurant we moved onto a pub that was near by, but it started to get going and Lea was determined to get her dance on as it was the day before St Patrick's day.

The place she wanted to go to was called Dicey's and it had a massive line up that wasn't moving! Lea's friends were already inside so it started to become a frustrating situation. Then we tried to line up for the club next door because they were also connected, but the line up there wasn't moving too quickly either. Finally though by some miracle, Lea managed to convinced this bouncer to let us inside! I couldn't believe it! We walked us right in, I felt like a bit of a celeb! The club wasn't even full, which I guess is typical! The music was awesome, we quickly found Lea's friends and started dancing.

When the club closed we headed off to Lea's friend's place, but by the time I got there I was falling asleep. Lea walked me back to her apartment near by and I went to sleep.
