Cancun, Day 2
I decided I wanted to go down to the famous Hotel Zone so I could hit the beach. This is what people picture when they think of Cancun. Cancun is pretty much split into two areas, downtown Cancun where the locals and workers live and then Hotel Zone where all the vacations go. Obviously they would never put a hostel in "hotel zone", so I got to stay downtown, which I loved because i was among the people and it felt authentic.
I got on the local bus, Held onto my bag for dear life ( A girl from the hostel got her purse stolen the day before) and ventured out. The only problem was that I didn't know where to get off! I ended getting off at this Marina/Outdoor mall. It was really nice and I relaxing lunch (Quesadillas) outside by the water. I was a bit confused though, where was the beach I had seen from the flight? I decided to venture across the street to one of the hotels, when I realized that you had to literally walk through one of the hotels if you wanted to get to the beach, so that is what I did. These hotels are amazing, and it's so easy to just gate crash and use their facilities.
I ended up just putting my ipod in my ears, relaxing and just tuning everything out it was great. After a while doing that I decided it was time to head back downtown for dinner at the hostel (which is included). I had a bit of a hard time trying to exchange pesos for some change for the bus, but luckily I had an American dollar bill that was small enough to do the job.
As I was walking back to the hostel from the bus toward the square I came across a show that was going on full of locals. It was great, I enjoyed it so much I stayed for an hour watching them dance. Then I got some Churros, which I haven't had since Barcelona. They were a bit had, but tasty, what a sugar rush.
