Cancun, Day 3
Chichen Itza tour!
I ended up booking this tour on the street near my hostel. There are tour offices everywhere and you have to remember to haggle. Except you don't want to haggle too much because they have to make some
commission.
I got picked up on time in a van with some others that was going to bring us to the place where we would meet up with even more people for the big bus. I ended up meeting this Venezuelan/Italian guy named Gianni and we hung out together on the tour along with this nice
Israeli girl.

The tour was amazing, we learned so much about the Mayans, and our bus driver was 100% Mayan.
Do you know Mayans are
usually 5 feet tall, with straight black hair and they don't grow any facial hair?! The only annoying part about the tour is when they try to get you to buy stuff, but it wasn't too bad. The first thing we did was stop at a Mayan sink hole, it was huge!

Then we had a nice lunch
buffet and the
opportunity to shop for Mayan souvenirs then finally the main event
Chichen itza.
Chictchen itza is pretty much in the jungle so it was hot as hell. I had a cooling spray with me which went into overuse between me and the
Israeli girl. What struck me though when I got there was how modern everything was, it was so cheesy and there was so many people trying to sell you stuff. Our guide was great, he started with a really dramatic intro
telling us about gum trees and how the sap was what they used to build
Chichen Itza. This place is a must visit just so you can see what geniuses the Mayans were as well as the
Toltecs in gory detail! After the tour was over, we treated
ourselves to
icecream and passed out on the bus. I felt great having accomplished my first goal of this
RTW trip.

I got back to the hostel just in time for dinner , after dinner I ended up going this bar with two
Norwegian girls, two
British guys and one of the locals that works at the hostels. The bonus was there was a great band playing, it was a good nice and cheap cheap beer! I think we paid about 400 pesos for 27 beers!
